Carmine Davis speaks about the death of Michael Jackson
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past twenty-four hours, you know that yesterday was one of the saddest days in music history! The King of Pop has passed away, suddenly. I’m writing this letter to send my condolences and to acknowledge what he has done for me on a personal level and on a entertainment level.
I’m 18, so my first memory of Michael Jackson is the THRILLER MUSIC VIDEO! OH…MY…GOD! I used to be TERRIFIED of that video…hahaha…and to be totally honest, i was afraid until recently when they played it yesterday. It used to scare me to tears, and now it moved me to tears. The song, the video, and the choreography is a work of genius. Every video of Michael’s is a work of genius. When I saw him perform on television, I would STOP what I was doing, and give him my full attention. When I was younger, I would immitate his kicks, his hand jives, and his famous “HOOOOOOOO!”. I would scream it, and I would sooo get in trouble. hahahaha…. Now as an entertainer, I still find myself sometimes immitating his strength, his courage, and his fearlessness on stage.
I pray that children who don’t know that much about Michael besides his gossip-column-grabbing antics, and have no idea what he’s done for the entertainment world, I hope you sit back and catch one of these Michael Marathons that are being displayed on BET and MTV. Listen to his music on his page, and just feel it. I love you, Michael. You are my biggest inspiration, and I hope you look down on me from heaven and be proud of me and my art!
God bless,
Carmine Davis.
P.S. Please excuse the typo’s! I’m really emotional right now! :)
